GGHS – Namashree Shah speaks on "Guru Seva" through the story of "Initiation of Srila Narottama Das Thakur" NAROTTAM DAS THAKUR GETS INITIATION FROM LOKNATH GOSWAMI. Hare Krishna! I am Namashree. My topic is Guru Seva. Narottam Das Thakur was the only disciple of Loknath Goswami. He was the son of a great king and he left everything to come to Vrindavan, Rupa and Sanatan Goswami had already disappeared from this mortal world. One day, Narottam Das Thakur approached Loknath Goswami for initiation but was refused. Narottam Das Thakur served him menially for a year cleaning his urine and stool. Finally, one day Loknath Goswami found this out and asked Narottam why he was doing such a menial task. Narottam replied "I have renounced everything of this world and have achieved the highest privilege and wealth of rendering personal service to my Spiritual Master". Loknath Goswami's heart melted and by the instructions of Lord Chaitanya he initiated Narottam Das Thakur. We learn from this story that Narottam Das Thakur shows that how a disciple should be humble before his spiritual master. We should be ready to do any menial task for our Spiritual Master.
