On 21st February morning, a sanyas acceptance ceremony was held at Panca Tattva Hall. Two devotees namely HG Dhirasanta Prabhu (a disciple of Srila Prabhupada in England, http://dhirasanta.com/) and HG Ananda Caitanya Prabhu (from Lithuania) received sanyas from HH Bhakti Caitanya Swami. Many devotees including sanyasis were present on this occasion. First of all, there was a lecture by HH Bhakti Caitanya Swami. We are sharing some of the salient points for your inspiration:

He explained from purport SB 11.23.57 that sanyas is not simply a change of dress rather a sanyasi must dedicate his mind and body completely in service to Lord Krsna.
He told that devotees in Krsna consciousness renounce for Lord to some extent. Sanyas is culmination of that renunciation and thus sanyasis are paid special respect.
While others are forced to renounce belongings at death, sanyasis do so voluntarily for Lord Krsna and attain Him.
A sanyasi in bhakti cult is characterized by having full absorption in hearing & preaching glories of Lord Krsna. He emphasized that sanyasis in our movement following Srila Prabhupada are parivrajkacarya meaning they constantly travel and preach. Whereas a mayawad sanyasi tries to give up activities and may engage in study of vedanta/ sankhya philosophy.

Other sanyasis also spoke briefly. Then both devotees offered flowers and prayers to the parampara. Next, they were awarded sanyas dress by HH Bhakti Caitanya Swami. Other sanyasis blessed the devotees by touching their hands on the new dress. There was a kirtan as the devotees changed their dresses.

Soon after wearing a new dress, they offered full obeisances to HH Bhakti Caitanya Swami. Then they received their sanyas danda and names. HG Dhirasanta Prabhu is now HH Dhirasanta Swami and HG Ananda Caitanya Prabhu is now HH Bhakti Swarupa Caitanya Swami.

Finally, there was a yagya accompanied with chanting of mantras and a hug of new sanyasis by other sanyasis present on the occasion.

Thank you for reading. Hare Krishna!!
